The Prodigal Son....according to Colin

If you are a Sunday School teacher, have taught VBS, or even discussed with your own children events or parables of the bible then you have wondered if they "got it". Well here is a glimpse at a five year old's version of The Prodigal Son.

"There was this kid who had all the food he wanted and it was good food. Whatever he asked for he got. But one day he told his dad that he wanted to do things his way. So he took all his food, and lots of money (this is where Clay interjected with "was it money for college?"), and jewels, and oh ya a plate, and a scarf, and jacket, and blankets, and pillows, and stuffed animal. So he spent a little here and there and then he ran out of money and jewels. So he got job but it really wasn't a cool job. He went back to his dad's so he could have good food again."

This is where Josh and I try and fill in the gaps with questions.

Us: "How was his dad when he saw him? Was he happy or angry?
Colin: "He was happy. They had a big party!"
Us: "What about his brother? How did he feel?"
Colin: "What brother? There was no brother in this story."

Well ok then...
